New York: '87

Some carefully filed away Leica negatives
from a New York trip we made in the 80s came to light recently.
The negatives were deep inside my artwork plan chest.
I spent a lot of time with my Leica M6 back then
and our first trip to NYC was a great opportunity
to make use of my favourite film camera.
I’m planning on creating a limited number of high quality prints
from these negatives. If you're interested in owning one (or two),
drop me a line and I'll be back in touch with you
regarding sizes, timings and prices.

Thank you all for coming

Our Hampshire Open Studios exhibition drew to a close on Bank Holiday Monday, but we have opened up some great new conversations, made some new friends and met quite a number of fellow artists.  It was all very encouraging.

Our exhibition was a success and we would like to thank all those who came along to invest in some or our work or just to see our pop-up gallery in the New Forest. We hope you all enjoyed viewing the work, talking about artwork and generally engaging in some interesting conversation.

Stay in touch and follow us to see what new thoughts and ideas happen in the next few months. We look forward to sharing our plans with you.

High spending promotion to announce exhibition?

Not really.

We have opted for the rather less expensive route and chosen the leaflets in the galvanised watering can option - stuck out in our lay-by.

How many announcement cards taken from the can so far? Thirty at the last count.

We hope to see you during the nine day exhibition which starts on Saturday and ends bank holiday Monday.  If you are travelling a distance, drop an email - paul@hampsonart.com the night before to check.

Forest Head

Forest Heads

These uncomplicated illustrations make use of four regularly seen types of plant or tree found in and around the New Forest. The idea came to me to combine a graphic comic book style of Indian ink brush drawing with detailed colour renditions of the plants and leaves. I will be exhibiting the four originals with prints available of the full set or individually.

Gary is a capable draughtsman and his figure drawings bear testimony to his skills with pastels and pencils. In addition to a number of original oil paintings on canvas, several of Gary’s original pencil and pastel drawings will be available to buy during the ten day exhibition.
